About & How We Test
SB Tools is run by A. Matic, a builder who has shipped automation for real businesses rather than reviewed them from a press kit. The site exists for one reason: small business owners deserve to pick AI tools the way they'd hire a contractor — from someone who has actually done the work.
How we test
We have a real machine (a Linux box with GPU hardware) and a test bench of real workflows. When an article makes a test claim, here's what happened:
- Setup is logged. Signup date, plan, tool version.
- The workflow is real. Same lead list, same prompts, same steps across every tool in a comparison — not each tool's best-case scenario.
- Numbers are spot-checked. AI-enriched data is manually verified on a sample (we state the sample size in the article).
- The test data is kept. Raw logs and sheets are retained and linked from the article's sources section when published.
- Pricing is dated. Every price carries the date it was verified against the vendor's live page. Prices drift; the date tells you how stale we are.
If an article says "in our test" you can hold us to it. If it says "typically" or "reports suggest," it's a quote, and the source is linked.
Authorship & AI assistance
Articles are written with AI assistance and edited, fact-checked, and accountable to the author. That's disclosed on every article, because we think hiding it is weirder than stating it. What AI does not do: invent a number, claim a test that wasn't run, or soften a verdict because of an affiliate relationship.
Affiliates
Some articles contain affiliate links, marked above the fold and in the footer. Our policy in one paragraph: we only feature tools we'd use ourselves, a commission never changes a verdict, "no partnership" is stated where it's true, and the full list of programs we use is on the disclosures page.
